South Dakota State Convention
NWTF Volunteers and Supporters,
We are gearing up for the 12th Annual SD State Convention at the Cedar Shores Convention Center in Oacoma, SD, on January 7th & 8th, 2017. The registration fee goes up $10 on January 1st, so register early and save! The hotel is attached to the convention center and you can make single/double room reservations for only $99.00, if they are called prior to December 5th. The phone number is 888-697-6363. Tell them you want the NWTF special rate, which ends on December 5th, so make your room reservations early and save money!
We are once again asking for each chapter to donate $100 to $200 to help support the State Convention. For every $50 of donations your chapter will be entered into a drawing for a deer sculpture. Please help support the State Convention and send your check made out to SD NWTF mailed to Eric Olson, the State Treasure, at PO Box 2374, Sioux Falls, SD 57101. Don’t forget! Send your checks right away!
The Convention starts Friday afternoon for the State Board members and the Super Fund Committee that hold their business meetings and conduct State Chapter business. Friday night we have a Revelry on the Roost Social with hors d’ oeuvres and cash bar, and a special fun raffle. On Saturday we will have some workshops on the SD Super Fund and how to use it, and fun and interesting seminars all day. At the Awards Luncheon we will present chapter awards to the best of the best in South Dakota. In the evening we have the Boss Gobbler Blowout and this will be your first chance to see the new 2017 banquet merchandise and maybe try a new raffle. If you are a committee member or banquet chairman this is an excellent chance to study the items and the layout of the auctions and raffles before you set up your own banquet. I also have some special guns and merchandise at the State Convention that you will not see at the local banquets.
We are also working on filling out the State Convention committees and if you would like to help, and we need some people from each chapter, let me know. We will need help setting up Friday, setting up the silent auctions for the Luncheon, and the banquet for Saturday night. We need each chapter to adopt a raffle and provide people to rotate through to help run the raffle. I want everyone to have plenty of time to play the raffles and socialize, so I don’t want anyone stuck on a raffle all night. If enough people volunteer each person only has to work a short time and play the rest of the time!
Please share this with your entire committees and anyone else that will be interested in the State Convention. Please encourage a group of your committee members to attend, they will learn a lot about the NWTF and what is happening in South Dakota, and it is a great chance to meet other members from across the state and share ideas.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Convention! Bring a group of your chapter volunteers and share in the learning and fun!
